Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Save Transfer and Classic Style

1st Chapter costumes, demo-to-full carry-over, and how to keep both bonuses.

Last updated:

Save Transfer

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter has two separate save bonuses, and players mix them up. One comes from finishing Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. The other comes from playing the 2nd Chapter demo. They stack. They are not the same file. This page explains both, how Classic Style SC costumes work, and how demo story, levels, and inventory move into the full game from the title screen.

The full game arrives September 17, 2026 (some Steam storefronts show September 16). The demo went live in August 2026, and players can download it now. Nothing here requires a promo code, a second player, or a made-up cloud setting Falcom has not described.

Bonus one: 1st Chapter clear data

Clear data from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter unlocks Classic Style SC costumes for Estelle and Joshua — the original SC outfits. The bonus works on all platforms, including the demo. That last clause is the one people miss. You do not have to wait until September 17 to see the costumes if the trial and the 1st Chapter save are both present.

How to get the costume bonus, in order:

  1. Finish 1st Chapter so the game writes clear data. A mid-game 1st Chapter file is not enough.
  2. Keep that clear data on the same platform family you will use for 2nd Chapter. This wiki does not claim a cross-play transfer that Falcom has not confirmed.
  3. Start 2nd Chapter (demo or full game) and look for the costume option once the party can change outfits.
  4. Equip Classic Style on Estelle and Joshua if you want the original SC look. The bonus is the unlock; it will not force the outfits on you.

If you have not finished 1st Chapter, the getting started spoiler warning still applies. Importing clear data is a story choice as much as a cosmetic one. Cast and outfit context for later guests lives on party members. Viewer Mode, which can photograph costumes in the full game, is not in the demo — see side content.

Bonus two: demo into the full game

Demo progress carries to the full game through a title-screen load or transfer. Confirmed pieces that move: story progress, levels, and inventory. Play the trial as if the file will still matter in September, because it will.

Practical habits:

  • Keep at least one demo save you would be willing to load on launch day.
  • Do not sell odd items to “clean” the bag. Inventory is part of the transfer.
  • Finish notebook work you still care about. The demo walkthrough is the place to do that without rushing Rolent, Ruan, Grancel, or Le Locle.
  • Update to demo patch 1.00.1 if you have not. The August 26 patch fixed a fishing crash and other bugs; a corrupted hobby session is a bad last memory to freeze into a carry-over file. Notes are on demo updates.

Viewer Mode and Movie Viewer are not in the trial, so they cannot carry. Fishing, poker, and cooking progress that exists as inventory, recipes, or notebook data should be treated as valuable even when this wiki cannot list every hidden flag.

Platform notes

Platforms are PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. Standard prices and the Switch 2 Edition live on the preorder page. A few platform habits are safe to state without inventing account policy:

  • Steam: Keep 1st Chapter and 2nd Chapter in the same library. Cloud saves follow Steam’s usual rules; do not assume a friend-family share will present clear data.
  • PlayStation 5: Finish 1st Chapter on the same console account you will use for 2nd Chapter. Copying a random USB file from someone else’s ending is not a documented bonus.
  • Switch and Switch 2: The $4.99 upgrade pack is for the game edition, not a save converter. If you plan to move from Switch to Switch 2, keep the 1st Chapter clear data and the demo file on the Nintendo account you actually use. This wiki does not invent extra steps.

Hardware performance does not change costumes. A Deck running Medium at 40–50 FPS still loads Classic Style. Specs are on system requirements.

What this bonus is not

It is not New Game Plus with extra bosses. It is not a numeric carry of every 1st Chapter statistic into 2nd Chapter combat. Confirmed rewards are the Classic Style SC outfits plus, separately, the demo’s story, levels, and inventory. Quartz loadouts you build in the demo are inventory and orbment state — treat them as part of the trial file, then review them with the orbment guide before you freeze the save.

It is also not a reason to skip combat practice. Brave Rush and Enforcer Boost still need reps; see the combat system. Early Enforcers in the demo will not become easier because Joshua is wearing an old coat.

Official storefronts and Falcom destinations stay on links. Launch timing stays on the release date page. If a later patch adds another carry flag, it will show up under updates, not as folklore in this paragraph.

Do the costume check the same day you finish 1st Chapter, not the night before September 17. Do the demo transfer check the same day you finish Chapter 1 of the trial, not after you have deleted “old” files to free space. Two saves, two bonuses, one title screen. That is the entire trick — and it is the only trick this page will promise.
