Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Editions, prices, and region-locked bonuses

Western SKUs through GungHo and Panax, plus a clearly labeled Japan Ouroboros Box that does not follow Steam buyers west.

Preorders

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter sells as a premium single-player remake, not a free-to-play client. Preorders and day-one SKUs split into a western sheet from GungHo America / Panax and a Japanese sheet from Falcom. Mixing those lists is how players invent a western HD remaster code that GungHo never confirmed.

Confirm live prices on Steam, PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, or Panax before checkout. This page records the announced structure. Storefront tax, shipping, and regional currency conversion are extra.

Western standard editions

GungHo’s edition sheet lists:

  • $59.99 standard on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam (physical and digital).
  • $64.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
  • $4.99 Upgrade Pack from the Switch version to the Switch 2 Edition.

The Switch 2 Edition ships on a standard game card. Digital Switch owners who later want that presentation pay the upgrade pack. Europe and Australia later shifted Switch physical street dates; that is a release date note, not a price change.

Season Pass and Digital Deluxe

The Season Pass is cosmetic DLC, not a story expansion. With the August 2026 demo, GungHo priced the pass at $24.99 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam, and a Digital Deluxe bundle (base game + Season Pass) at $79.99 on Switch 1, PS5, and Steam. Confirm the live storefront before you pay. Cosmetics work in Viewer Mode after launch and with bracer guild outfits.

Golden Wings already includes the Season Pass; do not buy the pass twice unless you are gifting.

Golden Wings Edition (western collector)

Panax, powered by PM Studios, sells the Golden Wings Edition with TAKEOFF Creative goods:

  • $274.99 — PS5, Nintendo Switch, or Steam
  • $279.99 — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Contents:

  • Standard edition game for the chosen platform (Steam is a key)
  • 1:400 scale Glorious x Arseille model diorama
  • SteelBook
  • Full-color collector’s artbook
  • Mini soundtrack CD
  • Collector’s box
  • Season Pass (digital cosmetic DLC)

This is a limited Panax run, not a wide retail bin, and it is not the Japanese Ouroboros Box.

Panax also listed a cheaper SteelBook Edition (game plus SteelBook, no diorama). If a listing says Golden Wings but omits the diorama, it is the wrong product.

Japan-only: Ouroboros Box and remaster code

Japan sells the Ouroboros Box (ウロボロスBOX) at ¥13,860. Falcom framed it around the Society of Ouroboros. Confirmed contents on the Japanese sheet include:

  • The game (PS5 package, Switch 2 Edition package, or a Steam key card)
  • Memorial Sound Collection (arranged Sky tracks, including Silver Will, Golden Wings)
  • Fluffy Sheep / Yaang mascot costume DLC
  • Steelbook

Retailer lists also pair the box with a Liberl character book and animation disc. Those extras stay on the Japanese SKU and do not appear in Golden Wings.

Japan console pre-orders (PS5, Switch 2, and Switch — physical and digital) included a download code for an HD remaster of the original Trails in the Sky (FC), with high-speed mode and a text log. Audio and subtitles follow the Japanese release. This bonus is not on Steam, even in Japan, and it is not the 2025 1st Chapter remake. GungHo America told press it is not involved in that bundle and had nothing to announce for western pre-orders. Japan boxed copies are PS5 and Switch 2; western physical also includes Switch 1.

Clear data is not a preorder bonus

Carrying Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter clear data unlocks Classic Style SC costumes and other bonus items. That is a save bonus, not a retailer extra. Set it up with save transfer. The demo can already redeem those costumes; see demo news.

What to buy

Stay on one platform: 1st Chapter clear data and demo saves do not hop from Switch to Steam. Pick Switch 2 Edition if you own that hardware; otherwise standard Switch plus the $4.99 upgrade is the published path. Buy Golden Wings only for the diorama and artbook — the game inside is the standard build. Ignore Japan remaster codes unless you are buying a Japanese console SKU and can use Japanese audio and subs.

For unlock dates, use the release date page. PC owners should also read system requirements. If a storefront promises the original Sky remaster outside Japan, that is a bonus GungHo America did not confirm.

Is the Japan remaster bonus on western pre-orders?

No. GungHo America did not confirm it. The HD remaster code was a Japan console pre-order extra and is not on Steam. See save transfer for the actual 1st Chapter clear-data bonus.

No. It is cosmetic DLC at $24.99. Digital Deluxe (game + pass) is $79.99. Cosmetics also show up in side content and Viewer Mode after launch.

Should I preorder on the same platform as 1st Chapter?

Yes if you want easy clear-data bonuses and demo carry-over. Platform rules are in save transfer and Getting Started.
