Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Provisional party ranking
S through C for the demo and early game — not a post-launch DPS table.
This list is provisional. Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter launches worldwide on September 17, 2026. The ranking below mixes the remake demo (prologue through Chapter 1) with original Trails in the Sky SC job identity. It will move. It does not use invented damage numbers.
Read party members for voices, weapons, and join windows. Read the combat system for Brave Rush and Command Battle. Read the orbment guide before you spend sepith proving a letter grade wrong. Parent context sits on the Tier List Hub.
Criteria: who is actually in the field, who can do more than one job without a perfect board, and who still needs later chapters to exist. Availability is part of the grade.
S — always useful in the demo
Scherazard Harvey (Silver Flash, whip). The early-game all-rounder. Range on normals, Crafts that are not glued to one tile, and an Arts identity if you feed her lines. If the demo gives you one partner to over-invest, it is Schera. She is the reason Estelle can take Le Locle seriously without turning every fight into a staff mash.
Estelle Bright (staff, protagonist). Mandatory, which is a strength. You will Brave Rush with her, you will walk her into every story fight, and you can point her orbment at healing or at a second damage element depending on who is standing next to her. She is S because the formation cannot fire without her, not because she out-damages a later Olivier board that you do not have yet.
A — specialists who show up on time
Anelace Elfead (one-handed sword, Eight Leaves). Demo partner at Le Locle. Craft-forward, cute-obsessed, and a senior bracer who still fights like she has something to prove to Yun Ka-fai. Put her in A as a physical carry for the lodge and the Chapter 1 window. Do not grade her as a failed caster; that is not her job.
Zin Vathek (gauntlets, Taito). He is around Le Locle before he is a long-term fourth. When he is in, he is a lane-holder: HP, delay on hits, and a reason Walter’s Taito connection is not flavor text. A-tier while present. He drops in practice if you only count hours you control him.
Agate Crosner (greatsword, Heavy Blade). Chapter 1 hammer. Original SC wants him hitting, not reciting Arts. In the remake demo that still reads as a physical S-Craft battery you do not have to babysit. A, not S, because he is narrower than Schera and later than the lodge duo.
B — later kits with known jobs
These names are not demo staples. Grades are original-SC roles plus remake systems we already know (seven slots, Brave Rush). Treat B as “plan quartz, do not expect them on the title screen.”
Olivier Lenheim (orbal gun). In original SC he is the Arts problem for enemy groups. The seventh slot makes that identity louder, not quieter. B until he is in your save; S-adjacent the day he is.
Kloe Rinz (rapier). Arts plus support, Jenis-trained, calm in a party that is not. Same rule as Olivier: the kit is real, the demo clock is not.
Kevin Graham (bowgun, later joiner). Fan-favorite SC kit: range, support Crafts, enough Arts to patch holes. B as a pre-release grade because join timing is later. Do not bench Estelle waiting for a priest who is not in Chapter 1.
Joshua Bright (dual blades). Missing for much of the early story. When original SC puts him in the field he is a fast physical specialist. B here is an honesty grade: you cannot use a partner who left after the Queen’s Birthday Festival.
C — specialists and guests
Tita Russell (orbal cannon). Jamming, recovery tools, and a body that does not want to stand in Walter’s lane. Valuable later. Fragile always. C as an early-game pick, not as a verdict on her story.
Josette Capua (orbal gun, later ally). Sky-pirate kit with Arts. She is a plot guest who can fight. C until the Bobcat hands her over; then she is a ranged fourth, not a new protagonist.
Guild staff (Kurt, Carna, Grant, Aina, Kilika, Elnan, Jean) and army names (Cassius, Cid, Morgan) are not playable grades. Enforcers are not playable grades. See Ouroboros for Walter, Luciola, Bleublanc, Campanella, Leonhardt, and Renne.
How to spend the grade, not the letter
If you have Estelle and Schera, you already have a complete demo core: one generalist, one all-rounder, Brave Rush between them, Arts on whoever has water or wind first. Add Anelace or Agate when the chapter hands you a physical lane. Leave Olivier/Kloe/Kevin theory on paper.
Quartz still beats prejudice. A C-tier Tita with a finished water line can save a fight an A-tier Agate cannot heal. That is why this list refuses fake DPS. Slot logic lives on the quartz tier list. Demo routing lives on the demo walkthrough. Side requests live on side content.
If a favorite sits in B, that is not an insult. Early Liberl is a story about who is standing next to Estelle, not a tournament of infinite quartz.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for demo players and anyone waiting on the September launch.
Why are Estelle and Schera both S?
Estelle is always in the field and drives Brave Rush. Schera is the best early all-rounder the demo actually gives you. Bios and weapons are on party members; gauge rules are on the combat system page.
Why is Olivier only B if he is an Arts monster?
Because this is a demo and early-game list. He is not in the prologue-through-Chapter 1 field as a staple. When he joins, reread this page and the quartz list.
Should I force Anelace to cast?
Not as her main job. She is an Eight Leaves sword first. Put coverage Arts on Schera or Estelle and let Anelace hit. Slot theory is on the orbment guide.
Where does Joshua rank for the demo?
He does not. He is missing for much of the early story. Keep him in B as a future physical specialist and play Estelle's search. Story framing is on the Characters Hub.
Will this move after September 17?
Yes. The Tier List Hub exists so both child pages can be rewritten from full-game saves. Until then, route with the demo walkthrough.
