Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Orbments, Quartz, and Arts

Seven slots, slot enhancement, confirmed Arts, and how quartz supports party roles.

Last updated:

Orbment Quartz

Orbments still drive Trails combat, and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter changes the board. Each orbment now has seven quartz slots, up from six. Slot enhancement unlocks superior quartz and stronger Arts. This page lists only confirmed systems. It will not invent quartz names or a homemade S-tier. Rankings belong on the quartz tier list. Skim getting started if you are new; Brave Rush versus Arts timing sits on the combat system page.

Seven slots instead of six

The extra slot is not flavor. It is another place to complete an elemental line, hang a survival quartz, or leave a hole until you understand the character. Fill the seventh slot last on a new orbment, not first. Early demo quartz should answer a role question: does this person need to live, to hit, or to cast? Estelle often wants a mix that keeps her useful in both Quick Battle and Command Battle. Joshua wants the setup that supports partner combos. Guests should inherit a plan, not a junk drawer.

Because names beyond the Arts list are unconfirmed here, describe quartz by job until the in-game menu teaches you the proper noun. Attack, HP, status, and element categories from classic Trails still return in spirit. That is a design rhyme, not a license to paste an old SC spreadsheet into this remake. If a guide on another site lists a quartz this wiki does not, treat it as unverified.

Slot enhancement

Slot enhancement is the long-term orbment project. Enhancing slots unlocks superior quartz and stronger Arts. Do not spend every early resource enhancing the first hole you click. Enhance the line that matches the Arts you actually want to see on the command list. A Water line that never completes will not give you Blue Ascension no matter how pretty the menu looks.

In the demo you have time. There is no trial clock. Use Le Locle and the highway loops in the demo walkthrough to test one enhancement at a time. If a character is about to leave the active party, stop pouring sepith into their board until you know they return. Roster timing is easier to track from party members than from memory.

Confirmed Arts

These Arts are confirmed for the remake. Element tags are part of the confirmation, not fan coloring:

  • Blue Ascension — Water
  • Sylpharion — Wind
  • Abyss Fall — Time
  • Lost Mobius — Space
  • Zodiac — Mirage

Build toward these when the slot layout allows it. Water and Wind are the approachable lines for players who remember older Liberl magic. Time, Space, and Mirage are the lines you open when you are ready to spend Command Battle turns on something other than a simple damage Art. This wiki does not claim EP costs, cast delay, or area shapes beyond what you will read in the game. If a later interview adds a sixth Art name, it will land on updates, not as a silent edit in this paragraph.

Arts are Command Battle tools first. Quick Battle still wants Brave Rush and Crafts. Do not strip every quartz into casting if the active character is the person you planned to spend two gauge on. The combat page is the partner to this list.

Quartz and party roles

Roles in 2nd Chapter are still the bracer jobs you expect, just with a seventh hole to express them.

Estelle wants a board that still works when she is the active Quick Battle character. Joshua wants support for partner bursts; empty slots waiting for a better stone are allowed. Schera and Olivier lean into arts if the in-game list says so — confirm in the menu. Agate is Craft-forward. Tita and Kloe should keep Arts real instead of fake front-line boards. Zin wants durability. Anelace, Yun Ka-fai’s granddaughter, uses a one-handed sword; slot her as an attacker who can take a Brave Rush invite, not as a second Estelle. Later guests on the Ouroboros page should get leftover stones until you know their join length. “Must field” talk belongs on the party tier list.

How to experiment without inventing a meta

A safe experiment is one change per fight. Swap a single quartz, walk into a highway encounter, and see whether Command Battle gained an Art you wanted. If it did not, put the old stone back. Slot enhancement is the second experiment, and it is harder to undo, so it waits until the Art list on the character actually matches the line you are feeding.

Cooking can cover mistakes. Attack Food and Quick Battle dishes from side content will not fix a broken orbment, but they will let you finish a demo Enforcer while you rethink slots. Save files that you plan to transfer should not be the files you use for reckless enhancement tests; make a spare.

Hardware does not change quartz math. A Steam Deck running Medium at 40–50 FPS still uses seven slots. Check system requirements if the menu stutter makes you mis-click a line.

Leave with a rule, not a shopping list: seven slots, enhance the line that produces a confirmed Art, and treat classic category words as flavor rather than fake item names. Rankings wait on the quartz tier list. When you want to spend two Brave Gauge points, close the orbment screen and go fight.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for demo players and anyone waiting on the September launch.

How many quartz slots does an orbment have?

Seven, up from six. Slot enhancement unlocks superior quartz and stronger Arts. Combat pairing is explained in the combat system.

Which Arts are confirmed?

Blue Ascension (Water), Sylpharion (Wind), Abyss Fall (Time), Lost Mobius (Space), and Zodiac (Mirage). Rankings of stones live on the quartz tier list.

Can you list every quartz name?

No. This wiki does not invent unconfirmed names. Classic attack, HP, status, and element categories return in spirit; see the tier list hub for opinionated lists.

How should I slot Estelle or Joshua in the demo?

Match the role on party members, leave the seventh slot until you know the job, and test during the demo walkthrough.

Do cooking or Brave Rush replace quartz?

No. Dishes help a fight; they do not complete an elemental line. Brave Rush is a two-gauge Quick Battle spend on the combat page.

Where do I go after this page?

Set a line, then return to the guides hub. Hardware issues belong on system requirements, not in the orbment menu.
