Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter PC minimums, empty recommended row, Deck reality
Ryzen 5 1600 and GTX 1050 are official. Steam's recommended box is not a hidden 3080 — it is blank.
Steam is the only place Falcom published a PC table for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. Copy that table, then stop. A lot of wiki pages invent a “recommended RTX 3060” line because the storefront looks unfinished. This page will not.
The remake arrives September 17, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. Console SKUs do not need this table. PC and Steam Deck do.
Official minimum (Steam)
| Item | Minimum |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10/11, 64-bit |
| Processor | AMD Ryzen 5 1600 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 |
| DirectX | Version 11 |
| Notes | Settings: 1080p, 60 FPS, Performance graphics profile |
Intel CPU equivalents, laptop 1050 Max-Q SKUs, and VRAM are not listed. A Ryzen 5 1400, GTX 960, or 6 GB of RAM is below the published floor. Start on the Performance profile, then climb if frame time stays even.
Official recommended (Steam)
| Item | Recommended |
|---|---|
| OS | Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system |
| CPU | not published |
| RAM | not published |
| GPU | not published |
That empty row is honest. Falcom left it as a 64-bit OS stub. Do not treat a YouTuber’s 32 GB / RTX 4070 screenshot as the missing official spec. When Steam fills the cells, this page should quote them. Until then, the minimum row plus in-game profiles are the only vendor numbers.
FSR, HDR, and other PC flags
The Steam build includes AMD FSR 2.2 (already in the August 2026 demo). It is the intended upscaler; do not assume DLSS or XeSS unless Steam later adds those names. Steam also lists HDR available. If your monitor is SDR, leave HDR off.
Other Steam feature flags that matter for PC:
- Steam Cloud
- Steam Achievements
- Family Sharing
- Full controller support, Xbox controllers, PlayStation controllers, Steam Input API
- Developers recommend a controller (see controls)
Languages on Steam: English and Japanese audio; interface/subtitles in English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.
Steam Deck, realistically
Valve’s Steam Deck Compatibility field is Unknown. That is not “Verified” and it is not “Unsupported.” Independent demo testing (Steam Deck HQ, August 2026) reported:
- Default Medium preset
- About 40–50 FPS
- No upscaling / no lowered render resolution on that default, so the image looks sharp
- FSR 2.2 available if you want to trade a bit of performance for a cleaner upsample than a raw resolution drop
- Feel comparable to 1st Chapter on Deck, with the usual caveat that a demo is not the final executable
Install the demo first — ten hours beats a store screenshot. Leave Medium as the baseline. If you chase 60, try FSR 2.2 and lower effects, then check towns and Command Battle UI, not just a field run. Use the Deck controls; open Steam Input if a prompt shows keyboard icons. A locked 40 FPS with FSR often reads better than a swinging 50 that dips in Grancel. After September 17, re-test. Docked 1080p is a different load than 800p handheld, and the GTX 1050 desktop minimum is not a Deck GPU.
Console comparison, briefly
PS5, Switch, and Switch 2 do not publish this PC table. Switch 2 Edition is a $64.99 SKU with a $4.99 upgrade from Switch; that is an edition issue, not a spec issue. DualSense vibration is listed on PlayStation Store. If you own 1st Chapter on another platform, stay there for save transfer. Specs do not migrate a clear-data bonus from PS5 to Steam.
Desktop at or above the minimum row should start on Performance at 1080p and climb. Laptop 1050s should treat 60 FPS as a hope. Deck players should plan for Medium at 40–50 FPS. Pair this page with controls before you remap everything in Steam, then Getting Started once the game boots. The empty recommended row is the point: it keeps you from shopping for a GPU Falcom never asked you to buy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for demo players and anyone waiting on the September launch.
What GPU does Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter need?
The published minimum is a GeForce GTX 1050 for 1080p 60 on the Performance profile. Steam has not published a recommended GPU. See the table above and the tools hub.
Will it hold 60 FPS on Steam Deck?
Demo testing sat around 40–50 FPS on Medium. Plan for that range, then try FSR 2.2. Controller notes are on controls.
Does the PC version support HDR and FSR?
Steam lists HDR available, and the demo included FSR 2.2. Neither replaces a missing recommended-spec row.
Can I Family Share the game?
Steam lists Family Sharing. Demo carry-over and 1st Chapter costumes still follow the save transfer rules on that account.
Is there an Xbox version?
Not on the announced platform list. Day-one is PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and Steam. Dates are on the release date page.
Should I buy PC or Switch 2 for performance?
PC scales with your hardware and adds HDR/FSR. Switch 2 is a $64.99 console SKU. Compare editions on preorders after you accept these PC numbers.
